I am basically wondering what the difference is between a Valentine vs a girlfriend.

So I am planning to ask this girl that isn't my girlfriend to be my Valentine. I don't have any immediate plans to make this girl my girlfriend either. I simply want to spend Valentine's Day with her. Is this common? If she says yes does this imply I can treat her like a girlfriend for a day (hugs, kisses, etc...)? What would be a good gift for this scenario other than flowers?

"Be my Valentine" can mean anything from, "Be my casual friend" to "Be my lover," so if you really want to "treat her like a girlfriend for a day," you'd better be specific about what you mean when you ask her to be your Valentine. Just the word "Valentine" by itself is too vague.

Yea that's a good question! When I Valentinewas way younger, I just thought it meant someone would ask bc they liked you and you would exchange Valentine Day cards, chocolates or a little teddy bear hehe. I think you just have to make it clear what you want- Valentine as a friend or maybe more, etc. :)
